Stop child soldiers!

In this video called "Child soldiers in Uganda", It shows the struggle of Child soldiers in Uganda.
Each night, children are abducted by the LRA, Children are taken from their families, often times the families are killed, and the children are taken. Or they force the child to take the lives of his or her own family.
For such a large and horrible issue, what kind of stands can be made in order to help out these children?? I know that something I can do to help would be to put a link on my Facebook page of the films or books that  can possibly help with the cause, or just better inform others of what they may not know.

Payroll tax break will continue

In an article called Payroll tax break will continue, Ledyard King says that "Congress agreed Friday to extend a payroll tax break through the end of the year for millions of Americans, despite the objection of some Florida lawmakers that the country shouldn't add another $90 billion to the federal debt."  Basically, what he is saying is that the payroll tax reduction will save around $80 a month for people earning $50,000 a year and will save high-income workers a maximum $2,200 for the year.

In my opinion, we must and will continue to fight to make and keep taxes permanently low. Allowing taxes to suddenly go up on millions of taxpayers would be terrible for our struggling economy. The last thing we need in this day and age is something like that.

5 De Mayo Group Needs Your Help

SeƱora Maria de Carmen is 27 years old. She lives in a common law marriage with her husband, who is a farm worker. They have three daughters, of whom two are in primary school and one is in preschool. She sells tamales, atole (a hot corn-based beverage), and rice tacos. She is applying for a loan to buy meat, rice, oil, eggs, sausages, potatoes, onions, leaves to wrap tamales, corn, lard, chocolate, flour, cinnamon, sugar, and charcoal. She began this business two years ago. Her mother had a similar business and helped her cook.

Her business is important because she has income to buy fruit or pay for some of the school expenses of her daughters. She feels proud when her customers tell her that her food is delicious. She goes out with her cart to offer her products to the merchants in the plaza. As a housewife, she is planning to hire a person to sell food and thus reach more sales locations.

I feel that is an extremely hard decision to decide which group is most deserving of a loan. This group here needs it because not only would it help their business but it would also help the area, bring more crops and supplies in. Now go help them out today!!

American on the outside, Norwegian on the inside

I am physically a girl from America
Blonde hair, Blue eyes, my Fair skin
Might try to tell another story.

I am Norwegian inside,
have never visited before, but my parents
speak highly of it

I am of Norwegian background
but English is the only language I am fluent
I eat American food,
Follow American tradition,
My blood is all that speaks otherwise.

Racism at a distance, but not too far from home

In the article Brazil it's not fun to be black! by Santorri Chamley, The author discusses how "Afro-Brazilians" continue to be discriminated against in Brazil because of their Dark skin or curly hair. It points out how they are discriminated against in many places of their lives, including in their childhood, schools, workplaces, prison, stores, hotels, at the hands of judges, the police, landlords and even doctors.

I feel that by reading and understanding this article, I have opened my eyes to Racism and Racial Discrimination. It is easy to only see the racism shown in your own area, or country, but to be given the opportunity to see it from afar was quite interesting.
